Dopapod Pays Tribute To moe., Britney Spears, Lynyrd Skynyrd In Atlanta
Dopapod traveled to Terminal West in Atlanta, GA on Saturday for a tribute-filled show. The concert saw the headbanging-meets-jamtron quartet pay homage to moe., Britney Spears, and Lynyrd Skynyrd with well-placed covers and teases.
The evening began with the plea of “Plaese Haalp”. After that came runs through Emit Time‘s “Test of Time” and “Cloud World”, which has yet to make it onto a studio LP. This was then followed by just the fourth-ever telling of “Kamikaze”, which the band took off the shelf for the first time since 2014 back on May 14th in Denver, per Phantasy Tour.
This was followed by an “8 Years Ended” that linked up with a cover of moe.’s “Wormwood”. Dopapod debuted its cover of the title track from moe.’s 2003 album back on November 9th, the same day it was revealed that guitarist Chuck Garvey suffered a stroke several days earlier. The first set then came to a close “With My Best Friends”, a new original that debuted on November 10th in Columbia, MO.
Kicking off set two, Dopapod opened with a “STADA” that saw teases of “Picture in Picture”. This set up a train that rolled through “Bluetooth” and “Present Ghosts” before a slight break in the action brought up “FABA”. Up next came a highly relevant cover of “Toxic” by Britney Spears, who just last week was released from her conservatorship after 13 years. The set then came to a close with “Braindead”.
Dopapod returned to the Terminal West stage one last time to deliver a cover of “Mucho” that featured teases of “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Two days prior, guitarist Rob Compa posted a picture with the Fender Stratocaster used to record “Sweet Home Alabama” during a stop in Nashville.
